A guide on how to include the Good Neighbours Directory at your event
The Good Neighbours Directory is a place to support and celebrate the things that make a good neighbourhood. It’s not actually a directory (like the Yellow Pages used to be) but a reminder of analogue ways to to put pen to paper as a way of supporting the grass roots venues, local artists, youth clubs, food banks, community kitchens etc. who make your neighbourhood feel like home.

How to use the Good Neighbours Directory
Set up
- Hang up the string/ribbon between two points in the space you are hosting to create a line to hang flyers from, somewhere clearly visible.
- Hang a Good Neighbours Banner / sign by the line.
- Clip bulldog / peg clips to line
- Hang a couple of Good Neighbours flyers to get started and show people how to use them
How to run it
- If you have someone welcoming people on the door then leave the flyers with them; when people arrive each person should be given a flyer and asked to fill the flyers out and hang them on the ‘line’
- If there isn’t anyone welcoming people, leave the flyers by the line for people to use themselves. Shoutout the element throughout the event to encourage people to take part
Capturing the Good Neighbours Directory
On the day
- Take photos of people while they are submitting to the directory
- Take photos of the hanging line
- Make sure to save the submitted flyers
After
If you have somewhere to keep the flyers up, keep them hanging with a set of unfilled flyers, so people can keep searching and adding to the directory in person.
If you have a scanner – scan in the flyers individually (just the filled in side). If not – take photos of the flyers individually (just the filled in side)
Share the scans/ photos on your socials
Send them to us too, so we can share on the Fête of Britain Instagram and website.
